My Workspace

I had a bit of a tidy up in the office today, so thought you might like to take a closer look at my workspace. This is where I do my editing and printing, and where I all my gear lives when I’m not shooting!

This is where the work happens between shoots — editing, retouching, and printing. All my equipment lives here when it’s not out on a job, so it doubles as a storage room for lighting, camera bags, and anything else that needs a home.

The editing desk — Twin monitors for culling and retouching, with a laptop & tablet for overflow.

The dumping ground. Everybody has one 🙂 Also, my cutting mat and charging station with an AD600 pack on charge.

The other side of the room — My print station with dual-Epson R3880’s, white light and magnifier and my bookcase.

Bookcase — My photography library, an old Canon desktop inkjet for basic office stuff, and the resident Squishmallow.

The inspiration shelf — Newton, Avedon, Bitesnich, Argentini… the photographers who shaped my eye.

Years of photography magazines. I used to get the Photographie French magazine which was much better than the UK version. Shame the “New Nude” and “PhotoIcon” magazines never carried on, but I suspect they ended up being categorised as top-shelf material by most newsagents, despite being a completely different topic.

My Studio and Location kit-bags. I love these Tamrac Expedition series bags. The Expedition 8 holds pretty much all I could need, but stays in the car on location. I decant what I need to carry to location into the Expedition 5 to save my poor back!
